Want to know what a New England butter clam is? Need some new recipes for cooking oysters? Come to the Sears Library at on July 23 to learn more about shellfish farming on Cape Cod, how towns grow oysters for the recreational harvest, and tips to follow on how to safely harvest, store, and prepare clams and oysters. Abigail Archer works as a Fisheries & Aquaculture Specialist for two entities with shared goals; the Barnstable County Cape Cod Cooperative Extension Marine Program and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Sea Grant. She works with shellfish growers, municipal natural resource managers, shellfish constables and river herring wardens to carry out monitoring and scientific research projects that answer their questions about marine resources.
